General Information 2011
Stall Houlders
1. JUDGES
Master Judge Koos Geldenhuys and his panel will be invited to judge the exhibits.
EXHIBITORS MUST TAKE NOTE OF THE REQUIREMENTS AS SET OUT IN THE SHOW RULES AND STANDARDS
- BENCHING
2.1 Benching will commence at 15h00 until 17:30 on Friday 9th September 2011 An exhibitor may enter a maximum of 5 exhibits in any one Section or Class.
2.2 Benching fee payable is R 5-00 per exhibit. The necessary entry form must be completed and signed and accompanied by the fee payable.
2.3 It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to study the groups/sections/classes as set out under paragraph 3 of the Show Rules and Standards, to ensure that exhibits are entered correctly.
Show Exhibits:
1) Once benched, the plant shall be under the control of the show master and no plant shall be moved or interfered with in any way without the permission of the show master.
2) All exhibits shall be entered at the risk of the exhibitor and neither the Club nor any of its officials shall be held responsible or liable for any theft or damage to any exhibit.
3) The name of the exhibitor may not be displayed with the exhibit.
4) Plants entered for show purposes must be of good quality, healthy and preferably undamaged.
5) Any diseased plant may not be entered.
6) All plant containers should have a suitable drip tray. Containers must be clean with no visible markings thereon. Hard plastic, terracotta, asbestos, ceramic or metal pots may be used to display the plant. A seedling tray shall be a standard black plastic seed tray of approximately 32 x 28 x 11 cms.
7) No plant may be displayed in a plastic bag unless it is placed in a suitable pot without the plastic bag being visible.
8) Ground covers must be bark chips of a suitable size.
Rules Applicable to the Exhibits:
Container:
1) The size of the container shall be in relation to the size of the plant.
Leaves:
1) There should be at least twelve leaves to indicate a mature plant.
2) The shape, size and arrangement of the leaves should be in balance with the appearance of the plant.
3) Leaves may be trimmed or removed provided that the general appearance of the plant is not adversely affected.
Scape/Peduncle:
1) The scape must be well developed and sturdy and of sufficient height to display the umbel above the leaves. A cluster of berries may be supported by a stake without any penalty.
Umbel:
The umbel should be of a good size with a least 75 percent of the flowers open and in a good condition. An umbel with spent flowers may not be entered.
Flowers:
The flowers should not be damaged. Should a flower be damaged in transit the flower should accompany the plant to the show as proof. A penalty will be incurred.
Miniature Plants:
A plant with not less than twelve leaves where the general appearance of the plant indicates that it is a miniature. The leaves should not be longer than 250mm in length.
Clivia with Berries:
Not more than two berries may be missing.
Seedling Tray:
There must be between 25 and 50 seedling of which no seedling must have more than five leaves present.
3 JUDGING
Judging will commence at 18h00 on Friday 9th September 2011.
ONLY AUTHORISED SHOW OFFICIALS AND JUDGES WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE HALL WHILST JUDGING IS IN PROGRESS
4 DEBENCHING OF EXHIBITS
4.1 Debenching will commence at 16h00 on Sunday 11th September 2011. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
5 AWARDS CEREMONY
This will take place at Joburg Clivia Club meeting following the annual show.

7. ENTRANCE FEE
An entrance fee of R10-00 per person (children under the age of 12 free) will be charged for entrance to the show/sales hall.

From 08h30 to 17h00 Saturday the 10th September 2011.
From 08h30 to 16h00 on Sunday 11th September 2011.
